Over 30 Authors are coming to Galax for the 5th Annual Authors on Grayson Event!
The 5th Annual Galax Book Festival, "Authors on Grayson" will be held June 10th and 11th as part of the Leaf & String Festival in downtown Galax. Over 30 authors will be seated under the Authors Tent on Grayson Street in front of Chapters Book Store. This year, the following authors will be here to meet people, talk about books and writing, and have copies of their books for sale. Come enjoy the fun and meet some of your favorite authors! Special events will be held on Saturday featuring well known and local area authors. Please read below for updated information for the 2011 festival!
Luncheon with Jon Jefferson
The luncheon will be held Thursday, June 9 at 1:00 pm. This special event will occur at Warrick Hall, next door to the Galax Presbyterian Church on Jefferson Street in Galax, Virginia. Co-author of the best selling "Body Farm" mysteries Jon Jefferson will give a power point presentation.
This event will be catered by Chip Sauter of Chestnut Creek Coffee House. Also, the Jefferson Bass books will be on sale at the luncheon and will be autographed by Mr. Jefferson.
Tickets are $25.00 and may be purchased at the Galax Public Library, Carroll County Public Library, Galax Visitor's Center and Chapters Bookshop. The Visitor's Center and Chapters Bookshop are located on Grayson Street in downtown Galax, Virginia.
50 Years of Human Spaceflight: Triumphs and Tragedies
Richard Cook, author of "Challenger Revealed: An Insider's Account of How the Reagan Administration Caused the Greatest Tragedy of the Space Age" will give a power point presentation in the Galax City Municipal Building's City Council Chambers, located on the second floor of the City Municipal Building on Grayson Street.
His topic will be "50 Years of Human Spaceflight: Triumphs and Tragedies". He will also touch on the issue of UFO's and extraterrestrials since NASA has been searching for ET life since it was created. This will take place at 2pm on Saturday, June 10.
Mr. Cook will be at the Authors on Grayson Street both Friday and Saturday selling and autographing his books. He was the whistle blower of the "O-Ring" Controversy of the Spacecraft Challenger.
Only 50 people will be admitted to this event and individuals must pick up free "tickets" before the event. They will be available only at Chapters Bookshop.
Taking the Local Movement Global- Meet Chef Keith Snow
Chef Keith Snow will be at the Authors on Grayson both days. Chef Snow is the author of "The Harvest Eating Cookbook: More than 200 Recipes for Cooking with Seasonal Local Ingredients". Chef Snow is a nationally respected authority on local, seasonal and organic foods and a proponent of home cooking for families. Chapters Bookshop will sponsor a "Dinner With An Author" on Friday, June 10 at 7:30.
